An authentic antique late 19th-century Victorian silver-plated openwork miniature casket basket. This rare piece was manufactured by the renowned Pairpoint Manufacturing Company of New Bedford, Massachusetts. The piece is designed as a standalone toothpick holder, match box container, or miniature trinket casket. The high-domed openwork sides feature an intricate, beautifully rendered Aesthetic Movement low-relief pattern of songbirds perched among wild blossoms and palm leaves. It stands on four small ball feet and is completed by an overhead movable swing bale handle.

Handle is broken from the casket on one side. On the interior floor of the casket, there is an abraded spot near one edge. I think initials were engraved and then removed in some manner. Please see photos for condition.
