This vintage chrome-plated hood ornament features a sculpted bathing beauty or nymph posed with both arms raised behind her head.

The elongated figure and streamlined styling reflect the Art Deco influence found in automobile accessories of the 1930s.

This hood ornament was manufactured by Product Design Company. The reverse is marked “8165” along with the company’s circled PD logo.

Dating to approximately 1934–1935, it was sold as an aftermarket radiator-cap mascot or decorative hood ornament. It was not designed for one specific automobile make or model and could be used to dress up the hood or radiator cap of a vintage car, hot rod, or classic truck.

The figure is made of cast metal with a chrome-plated finish and measures approximately 9 3/4 inches long. Portions of the original mounting hardware remain attached to the back.

This would make a striking display piece for a collection of antique automobile accessories, Art Deco décor, garage memorabilia, hot rod collectibles, or vintage transportation items.

Condition:

This vintage hood ornament is being sold in as-found condition.

The chrome-plated finish shows substantial age-related wear, including pitting, oxidation, discoloration, scratches, scuffs, surface loss, and areas of corrosion.

Rust and oxidation are present around portions of the mounting hardware.

Aged padding or protective material remains attached to portions of the back and may be incomplete or deteriorated.

No attempt has been made to polish, restore, or remove the existing surface wear.

Please examine all photographs carefully for the most accurate representation of the condition, markings, construction, and included mounting hardware.
