A striking vintage samurai warrior sculpture handcrafted in Perth, Scotland by Ralph G. Bright.
The figure is made from a combination of metals and resin, with a rich copper-bronze coloured finish and darker patinated detailing. It is exceptionally well modelled, with intricate decoration across the helmet, layered armour, clothing, swords and facial features.
The original gold maker’s label remains attached beneath the felt-covered base and reads:
“Handcrafted Metals and Resin
Made in Scotland
By Ralph G. Bright
Perth 28277”
The lower robe also bears an incised stylised mark which appears to read RIK or ERIK. This may be an artist, designer or model-maker’s signature, although its exact identity has not been confirmed.
A substantial and unusual Scottish-made decorative sculpture, ideal for collectors of samurai figures, Japanese-inspired décor, Scottish studio craft and vintage cold-cast sculpture.
Good vintage condition overall.
There is some age-related surface wear, rubbing and variation to the copper-bronze finish, including darker areas and some greenish patina-like colouring within the recessed details. Minor marks and small imperfections are present in keeping with age and the handcrafted nature of the piece.
No obvious major cracks, chips or repairs noted.
The felt covering and original maker’s label remain present underneath.
Please study all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the condition description.
