1988 Press Photo Skull from a South Sea Expedition Displayed at Milwaukee Museum
This is an original press photo. SOUTH SEAS EXHIBIT ARRIVES - Christine Del Re (left), an assistant conservator at the Milwaukee Public Museum, and Henry Crawford, a museum registrar, started Tuesday to unpack 71 crates containing a new exhibit, "Magnificant Voyagers: The US Exploring Expedition of 1838-1842." The exhibit, which will be on display from February 6 to April 24, was organized by the National Museum of Natural History and the Smithsonian Institution. It re-creates an expedition that Lieutenant Charles Wilkes led to the South Seas and Antarctica. The opened crate contained a skull found during the expedition. Milwaukee - Museum - Miscellaneous.
