Lens adapter
Fotodiox's Cine Edition adapters are specifically designed for the Canon Cine lenses (works with all Canon EF mount lenses!) and are designed to mimic the shutter-operated Cine cameras for which these lenses were designed. The biggest advantage of using an adapter with a shutter mounting mechanism is that it provides a very solid connection and reduces friction and wear on the lens.
The addition of the removable tripod base on the adapter itself eliminates possible bending or wobbling of the camera mount side of the adapter when using a gear drive (manual follow focus or focus motors). The ramp of the rotating collar is fairly flat, so you get a big mechanical advantage: when you feel strong resistance to further rotation, the lens is tight and pressed tightly against its flange. The camera simply dangles from the back of the adapter and its mount is not exposed to any greater stress than the weight of the camera body itself.
**A notice:**
The CINE mount can be rotated until it is firmly in place, without a defined stopping point or locking mechanism. Twist until tight and loosen by turning in the opposite direction. Be sure to tighten it enough but don't turn it too far or it will fall off, that's how PL mounts work.
Sometimes you need more than a simple adapter to attach a lens to a camera - you need real power. FUSION technology built into the adapter enables electronic communication between different lens and camera platforms powered by your camera. Autofocus, aperture control, image stabilization, EXIF and aperture data can be transmitted to and controlled by the camera and much more. Manual lenses can still be used by turning off electronic communications using the function button.
Fotodiox's Fusion range of adapters now feature a micro USB port for firmware updates, offering users a near future-proof solution as they can integrate new lenses and fix potential bugs through firmware updates. For firmware updates and instructions, see the firmware update article for this adapter in the Fotodiox Technical Support Knowledge Base.
**A notice:**
Depending on lens firmware, focusing motors, age of the lens and manufacturer, not all Canon EF lenses perform the same. Test lenses before important shots.
