The item is an antique 18cm Japanese 'Kozuka' handled copper alloy letter opener. (please study photos)
Age unknown but probably late 19th century.
Probably from the 'Meiji era (1868 - 1912). The high relief dark patinated decorative scene show Waves and the head of a warrior as well as unknown subjects.
This unique and decorative item is a letter opener but also functions as a collectable piece with its Japanese design and craftsmanship.
