This rare to find item is a 6-inch-long laser-cut wood hanging 3D ornament collectible depicting the Frank Lloyd Wright Fallingwater Home, produced by Department 56 in 2017.  These ornaments are hard to find and often broken when they are found.  This one is in excellent original condition and displays beautifully - a FLW fan will appreciate adding it their collection!

Completed in 1936, the actual Fallingwater Home is one of Wright's most widely acclaimed works.  It was designed for the family of Pittsburgh department store owner Edgar J. Kaufmann.  Fallingwater exemplifies Wright's concept of organic architecture:  the harmonious union of art and nature.  Historically, the falls of Mill Run, Pennsylvania were a focal point of Kaufmann's family activities, and the family indicated to Wright their desire to locate their weekend retreat near them.  Much to their surprise, Wright designed the home to rise above the waterfall, rather than to face it. 

Like the home, this ornament features stylized intricate architecture.  The pattern was made from natural colored thin wood that was laser cut, assembled in layers for 3D effect, burned for outline details, and the trees stained green for contrast.  The ornament is quite representational of the Fallingwater home.
