A framed pair of Indian Mughal-style miniature paintings, described by the auction house as being painted on parchment. The two scenes depict royal riders travelling on a composite elephant and composite camel, whose bodies are ingeniously formed from intertwined human and animal figures.

The colourful scenes appear to be hand-painted in opaque watercolour or gouache with fine white and gold-coloured detailing. Each painting has been executed on a repurposed old Urdu book page, retaining the original script, headings, page numbers, annotations and highlighted passages.
