Seller's Note
This has a completely different feel from modern instruments — no heaviness, and you can really dig in and play it hard. It has been checked and is ready to play as soon as it arrives.
Condition
This is a used instrument with overall wear consistent with its age. The pads are in fairly good condition and should be fine for regular use for the time being.
Notable marks and issues include (please refer to the photos for details):
Dents and impact marks (several cm) on the bottom of the U-bow
Finish loss and rust on the bottom of the U-bow
Impact marks, bending, extensive finish loss, and rust on the bell opening
Impact marks, finish loss, scratches, and rust on the front, side, and back of the bell
Missing lyre screw
Impact marks, scratches, and extensive finish loss on the neck
Lifting neck cork (re-gluing recommended)
Multiple additional scratches and finish loss on the body and neck
Scratches, dirt, peeling surface material, and discoloration on the case
Please note there are countless minor scratches that may not all be visible in the photos.
Sound Check
Confirmed to produce sound across the full range, though adjustment is recommended given the instrument's age. There is no High F# key, which results in a fuller, thicker high register. The dent on the bottom did not seem to affect playability. Please note that operating the low C# key produces a knocking sound, likely due to a detached cork between the body and mechanism.
As this is an older instrument, glued parts and small components may come loose more easily. Please purchase with this understanding.
