An unusual collection of 24 antique Alice in Wonderland magic lantern slides, produced as photographic glass transparencies after the original illustrations by Sir John Tenniel for Lewis Carroll's classic Victorian masterpiece.

The set features many of the best-known Wonderland scenes and characters, including Alice, the White Rabbit, the Mad Hatter, the famous Tea Party, the Mouse, Dodo and various Wonderland animals and creatures, all reproduced with exceptional detail from the original Victorian illustrations.

Unlike the more commonly encountered hand-coloured lantern slides, these are black-and-white photographic images on glass, displaying the fine engraved line work of Tenniel's original artwork. The images exhibit the characteristic silver photographic sheen associated with early lantern slide production.

Each slide is individually numbered and labelled "Alice" and is housed in an old period card box.

An excellent and increasingly scarce collection appealing to collectors of Alice in Wonderland, Lewis Carroll, John Tenniel, Victorian photography, magic lantern slides and early projection ephemera.
