This is one of the foundational books of Holocaust rescue history, documenting the Christian men and women across occupied Europe who risked their lives to save Jews from the Nazi terror. Foreword by Father John A. O'Brien. Blurbs from Dean James A. Pike of the Cathedral of St. John the Divine and Archbishop Richard Cushing of Boston on the rear panel. Friedman was one of the first serious scholars of the Holocaust and this was among the earliest books to document rescue stories with academic rigor. The original dust jacket is present. 

Inside front bears the stamp of St. Ann's Episcopal School Library with call number and accession number, a fitting provenance for a book endorsed by prominent church figures.
