First edition of "Sing a Song of Safety," the 1937 children's safety song book by Tin Pan Alley lyricist Irving Caesar, with music by Gerald Marks and illustrations by Rose O'Neill, the creator of the Kewpie Doll. Caesar wrote "Tea for Two" and "Just a Gigolo" among other standards. This copy is signed twice on the half-title page: once by Caesar and once by Marks. A pencil note in an unknown hand confirms "2 signatures." Caesar toured relentlessly with this book, performing the songs on radio and at schools nationwide, and signed copies are a known feature of his promotional campaign.

Published by Irving Caesar himself at 1619 Broadway, New York, copyright 1937. Spiral bound, 71 pages, with 16 full color plates and black and white vignettes throughout by O'Neill. Rose O'Neill's Kewpie Doll illustrations are among the most avidly collected in American illustration history, and her work in this book is characteristic of her playful, charming style. This is a scarce title even unsigned. Signed by both the lyricist and the composer in a single copy, it is genuinely uncommon.
