Six antique glass lantern slides from a fine arts lecture collection, all depicting American and European paintings, made by T.H. McAllister-Keller Co. and associated publishers. Subjects include Leopold Seyffert's Self-Portrait (slide #90, McAllister, B&W), a Seyffert self-portrait in studio labeled "In My Studio," a work by Lamb titled "Reading" (#310, McAllister, B&W), a double portrait labeled "His Father and Mother" (#87, McAllister, B&W), a landscape labeled "Early Spring" (Detroit Publishing Co., B&W), a color slide of a young girl in a dress (University Prints, M.W. Keller, Belmont, Mass.), and a color theatrical or illustration slide of a woman in a bathing suit with a fishing rod.
Seyffert is a genuinely significant American artist whose self-portrait "In My Studio" is in the collection of the Smithsonian American Art Museum and who painted portraits of Henry Clay Frick, Andrew Mellon, Samuel Gompers, and Elizabeth Arden. His work hangs in the Metropolitan Museum, the National Gallery, and LACMA. These slides document his work in early art history education. All glass intact, approximately 3.25 x 4 inches each.
