Antique Japanese Koimari Imari Porcelain Plate Sara
This is an antique side plate (small plate) made in Japan. Plum blossoms and a nightingale (Uguisu) are drawn on the plate, and they are traced in gold. This design is called Imari-Ume. Some distortion is seen in the plate. Because it used firewood instead of gas or electricity like today, the temperature was unstable, and it was easy to warp. There are small spots and dust marks (goma) visible on the plate. This is where the ash fell when it was fired in the kiln. There is a piece of white porcelain (Me-Ato mark) on the bottom.
