The TR.1366 was a British airborne HF radio transmitter/receiver (transceiver) developed during the Second World War for the Royal Air Force. It was manufactured by Standard Telephones & Cables (STC) and formed part of the Airborne Radio Installation (ARI) 5206.

Purpose
Unlike earlier RAF aircraft radios that were primarily Morse (W/T), the TR.1366 was designed for voice communication (R/T) over the HF band. It allowed:

Air-to-ground voice communication.

Air-to-air communication over longer distances than VHF when atmospheric conditions permitted.

Operation as part of the ARI.5206 installation.
Development
The TR.1366 was later developed into the:

TR.1462 – described in RAF equipment lists as the HF version of the TR.1366, also produced by STC as the 30-LE-24B and used in the ARI.5206 family.

Physical characteristics
The equipment consisted of:

Because relatively few were produced compared with famous RAF sets such as the TR.9D, TR.1133 or TR.1143, surviving examples of the TR.1366 are uncommon today.
