Here we have a fine George V Sterling Silver Kiddush Cup. The cup is of traditional form and pinprick engraved with an up and down zigzag design between two double bands of pinprick engraving. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.

The kiddush cup was made in Birmingham and dates to 1915. The makers' mark is J R, which is probably the Birmingham mark of renowned Judaica silversmith Jacob Rosenzweig, who is better known by his London mark for Rosenzweig, Taitelbaum & Co.

Condition is good, with just a few truly tiny dings in the cup and the superficial surface wear that has to be expected after over 110 years of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The cup stands 8.4cm / 3.3ins high and is 3.6cm / 1.4ins in diameter at its widest point. It weighs in at 23.2g / 0.82oz of solid Sterling Silver.

The hallmarks, on the upper side of the base, are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter u for 1915 and the J R makers' mark which is most probably that of Jacob Rosenzweig.
