Offered here is an original 1896 billhead from John Ashenfelter Forwarding and Commission House, Ouray Colorado. Long list of goods sold to the Caroline Mining Company that includes Candles, Mining Equipment, Coal, Lumber and other such stuff to keep a mine going. The Caroline Mining Company mines were located above the Camp Bird Mines west of Ouray. Ashenfelter was a close competitor to Dave Wood Freighting Company, and Ashenfelter Hill on Highway 90 outside of Montrose is named for John, with his large mansion still standing at the top.
