Offered here is an original Underground Miners Ore Car Number Peg Board. Measures 3.50 x 9.50. Includes the original hand whittled peg. Peg boards were used at the shaft levels to keep track of the number of ore car loads that were passed onto the safety cage that headed to the grass. This one acquired from the collection of a well known Reno Nevada Mining Artifact Collector now sadly passed who found it many years ago in a long abandoned Nevada mine. There are numbers and initials written in pencil on the top, along with the word Stope. Each hole has a number written in pencil next to it. A truly fine display piece of underground mining history tough to find outside of collections these days, as the only source were abandoned dry mines, almost all now closed to collecting.
