Antique finely hand-carved Mother of Pearl shell on a custom wooden stand, from late 19th to early 20th Century.


Intricate pierced openwork depicting a dragon, phoenix and other birds, flowers, a pagoda and fisherman, with black gemstone eyes.


The shell is supported by a specifically carved wooden display stand.


The shell is 22cm wide x 18cm high. Height on stand 24cm.


Excellent, like new condition, no damage or wear.


An exceptional example of carved shells produced during the 19th century primarily for the Western export market.
