Australia – East Coast, Cape Byron to Lady Elliot Island.
Compiled chiefly from Admiralty Surveys 1863–70. Magnetic variation in 1918, slightly decreasing.
Original British Admiralty hydrographic chart of the eastern coastline of Australia from Cape Byron (New South Wales) north to Lady Elliot Island (southern Great Barrier Reef). The chart was engraved and issued by the Hydrographic Office, London, based on surveys by Royal Navy officers during the 1860s and subsequently updated with navigational data through 1918.
The sheet provides precise soundings, reefs, anchorages, and coastal topography, covering key ports including Brunswick River, Tweed Heads, Moreton Bay, and Hervey Bay. Two large compass roses and tide/current notations complete the layout, typical of early 20th-century Admiralty chart style.
Printed on heavy paper (formerly blueback-mounted on issue) and exhibiting crisp black engraving with red coastal updates for lighthouses and navigation lights.
Specifications: 68 x 102cm
