An old and very well used western highlands Drum, Possibly Enga peoples, Papua New Guinea.

Of elongated hourglass form and with a deep well handled surface patina from handling and wear, all carved from a single hollowed out log.

An old example with considerable age and use.

Acquired in the Highlands prior to 1980. The drum measures 28 inches tall x 6 inches wide.
