Overview
The Kondor-Gold is a classic piston-filling fountain pen manufactured in Germany around the turn of the 1970s and 1980s. This instrument is an excellent example of vintage German contract manufacturing (Private Label), produced by one of the reputable factories of that era. On specialized pen forums, experts most frequently attribute its production to the Luxor / Heiko, Osmia / Faber-Castell, or Mutschler factories.
Design & Materials
Body: Crafted from high-quality, dense, glossy black plastic. It feels premium to the touch, far superior to the thin acrylic used in mass-produced, budget models of that era.
Details: The side of the cap features a large, crisp, and clear "Kondor-Gold" imprint. The clip and cap band are gold-plated.
Design Features & Nib Unit
Filling System: Equipped with a traditional piston-filling mechanism featuring a durable synthetic seal (gasket). The piston operates smoothly and provides airtight sealing.
Maintenance Friendly: The nib unit is fully dismountable. The entire writing section (nib and feed) screws into the barrel via threads, making cleaning, flushing, and maintenance incredibly easy.
The Nib
The pen is fitted with an authentic, original 14K gold nib crafted by the specialized German manufacturer Provita. The nib features a crisp "Provita 14K-585" hallmark. In action, it delivers a pleasant, subtle springiness, which is a signature characteristic of the vintage German writing school.
Technical & Mechanical Condition: Fully Serviced
This pen has been thoroughly inspected and serviced, and is completely ready to write:
The Nib: Meticulously tuned for optimal and consistent ink flow. Fresh silicone grease has been applied to the threads of the nib unit before assembly.
Piston Mechanism: Fully serviced. The piston gasket and the inner barrel have been thoroughly flushed and lubricated with premium silicone grease. The piston glides softly and smoothly across the entire length of the cylinder.
Cosmetic Condition
Barrel: There are a few surface marks on the glossy plastic near the ink window.
Ink Window: Shows a light, natural inner tint/staining from age and prior use.
Nib & Metal Trim: The 14K gold nib has developed a beautiful, natural vintage patina. The gold plating on the clip and cap band shows minor signs of wear corresponding to the pen’s age.
