Offered here is a rare original 1903-1904 Brass Badge and Ribbon commonly referred to as a Peabody Medal. Top badge reads Colorado City Cripple Creek Telluride Trinidad and 1903-1904, with the bottom badge showing a vignette of Colorado Governor James H. Peabody with the dates 1903-1904. Back of badge reads Law & Order with a miner and a National Guardsman. Measures 3.75". The badge was made to 'commemorate' the breaking of the Western Federation of Miners Union Strikes in 1903 and 1904 in the mining towns mentioned, with Governor Peabody calling in the Colorado National Guard to assist. As shown superimposed on the book "The Cripple Creek Miners Strike, History of Industrial Wars in Colorado" that shows a bit of what and who was involved. Book is not a part of this sale. Tough to find this badge outside of private collections these days. Great display piece of Colorado Miners Union Strike history. Thanks for looking!
