Grand Seiko 61GS
This is a Grand Seiko 61GS automatic watch manufactured in 1967.
【Highlights】
This model features the "61 series" movement—production of which reportedly began at Suwa Seikosha in 1968—and represents the second generation of Grand Seiko automatic watches. It was the first Japanese-made automatic watch to feature a 10-beat (high-beat) movement.
The "8000" case design is iconic of the "GS Design."
It is said to be the ultimate embodiment of the "Seiko Style" design formula—
a set of aesthetic principles established by Taro Tanaka,
the first university-educated designer hired by Hattori Tokeiten (Seiko).
