Description

A beautifully observed and finely detailed wildlife study titled:

“Vixen & Cub” – Model A20442

This charming Border Fine Arts Studio piece captures a tender woodland moment — a watchful vixen seated protectively while her cub playfully tumbles at her side.

The sculpting is richly textured, particularly in the fur and tail detailing, with naturalistic hand-painted colouring in vibrant fox red, soft cream chest tones, and subtle woodland base detailing. The piece is mounted on its original circular wooden display base, giving it a traditional gallery-style presentation.

Sculptor & Maker History

This model is sculpted by M. Balfour, whose name is moulded into the underside of the resin base above the copyright mark.

About the Sculptor – M. Balfour

M. Balfour contributed to the Border Fine Arts Studio range, specialising in realistic wildlife subjects. While the larger limited editions were often associated with sculptors such as Ray Ayres or David Walton, Studio range artists like Balfour produced highly detailed and accessible wildlife studies that maintained the brand’s hallmark realism.

The moulded signature represents the original clay master prototype, where the sculptor inscribed their name. This signature is preserved in every cast taken from that master mould — a lovely authentic touch for collectors.

About Border Fine Arts
