About Tobisho PS-04
Tobisho pruning shears are versatile Japanese gardening tools suitable for a wide range of tasks, including bonsai care, pruning fruit trees, and trimming garden trees and shrubs.
Tobisho shears are recognized as a traditional craft representing Yamagata, Japan. Each piece is carefully hand-finished, giving the tool a natural feel, clean cutting performance, and a level of refinement that mass-produced tools cannot easily replicate.
Brazed A-Type Construction
The PS-04 uses a rare Brazed A-Type construction.
In this method, a hard Yasuki steel blade is joined to the body of the shears through a brazing process. This allows the cutting edge to use high-quality steel while preserving the balance and usability of the tool.
In recent years, full-body forging has become the mainstream method. Because brazing requires skilled handwork and more labor-intensive production, only a very small number of workshops in Japan are believed to continue this traditional manufacturing method today.
This construction gives the PS-04 a distinctive cutting feel and makes it a special choice for users who appreciate traditional Japanese toolmaking.
Description
About Tobisho
Tobitsuka Seihashisho, known for the Tobisho brand, has produced traditional forged blades for generations in Dewa Province, present-day Yamagata Prefecture.
Their tools combine traditional forging, careful hand-finishing, and modern inspection methods. Tobisho pruning shears are designed to cut cleanly and sharply while reducing fatigue during extended use.
Craftsmanship and Manufacturing
Tobisho shears begin as two pieces of steel and are carefully crafted one by one through more than 200 production processes.
Skilled techniques such as hollow-ground blade finishing, precise blade adjustment, and clam-shaped edge grinding help create a sharp, smooth cut with less effort while reducing damage to the cut surface.
Each pair is finished by hand with great care, resulting in excellent sharpness, durability, and edge retention.
Why Choose the Spare Spring Set?
A spring is a small but important part of pruning shears. Having a spare replacement spring gives added peace of mind, especially for users who rely on their tools regularly.
The spare spring option is ideal for gardeners, bonsai enthusiasts, orchard workers, and professional users who want to keep their Japanese pruning shears ready for long-term use.
Important Notes
The spare spring is included only when you select the “Pruning Shears + Spare Replacement Spring” option.
Wear resistance and durability may vary depending on conditions of use, maintenance, and cutting materials.
Please handle the blade carefully and keep it clean and dry after use.
