This is a beautiful Resistol Stagecoach straw western cowboy hat from a wonderful estate sale in Western MN. It is from the collectible Stagecoach Collection, produced only from 1978–1983. It has very minimal wear.

Excellent vintage condition. The straw displays a natural amber/honey patina from the aged lacquer coating, this is completely normal and expected on straw hats of this era, caused by the original sizing and lacquer oxidizing over decades. It is not discoloration from dirt, sun damage, or staining. The yellowing is even and consistent across the hat, which is a hallmark of a well-stored piece.

No breaks, tears, or damage to the weave. All original components intact including feather trim, braided band, and sweatband.

This hat has never been worn consistently or much at all - and has been stored in its original box for approximately 40 years. As with all Resistol Self-Conforming hats, the leather sweatband is designed to mold to the wearer’s unique head shape over time. Feeling snug at first and gradually conforming with wear. After decades of storage, the sweatband may feel firmer than usual initially. Simply wear it in short sessions and it will relax and conform naturally, as Resistol designed it to. A hat shop can also use a hat stretcher if you prefer a quicker break-in. Note that a proper cowboy hat should fit snugly — that’s by design, so it stays on in wind and work.

The Resistol Stagecoach Collection was only produced for approximately 5 years (1978–1983), making these increasingly difficult to find — especially with the original box and authentic Arizona retailer stampings still intact.
