I buy used and discarded My Size Barbie dolls. I bring them home and wash their hair and set it. I don’t wash the dolls, because that is part of their history. I take that past and I rejuvenate them into a beautiful collectible one of a kind doll. By saying that, they are for 12 year old and up collectors. They are not made to be played with. I don’t know how to sew. Glue is my needle and thread. Yes Glue. I also use straight pins and small trinkets to adorn them. They are designed to be looked at, not to be played with. The dolls are not perfect. I do not hide their imperfections and I embrace my limitations to sewing. My hair and dress designs restore their beauty and tell their story . From a lovely adult evening dress, I measure, cut , pull and glue my work together. I cut freehanded and it is not perfect. Sometimes it looks like a 2yr old has cut the material. I then pull and tuck the dress to form fit it to her body. Now comes the gluing together of the pieces. I style her hair. Then there in front of me she stands. Her beauty restored to what it was 30 years ago for all to admire, sporting a personalized hairstyle and now wearing a customized designer dress that once hung on a thrift store rack.
I am pleased to introduce you to Willow! She is one of many beautiful dolls in my collection that I am planning to sell.
Thank you for taking the time to read about my love for discarded and forgotten dolls and donated thrift store dresses!
God bless everyone.
