In the Solomons on October 11-12, 1942, and off Sicily on July 10-12, 1943, the light cruiser named after Idaho's first city won fame. Our Naval Training Station on Pend Oreille Lake bears the name of David Glasgow Farragut, a fresh-water lad who became the first admiral of the United States Navy.
