While originally designed for heavy-duty trucking safety, these units are well-known in the amateur radio community as excellent "donor" units for high-frequency projects such as: harvesting components for 24 GHz amateur band transceivers, Doppler speed measurement projects, or microwave motion sensing experiments. Built to heavy-duty industrial standards of the 1970s/80s, featuring discrete components that are much easier to probe and modify than modern surface-mount tech.
