This is an elegant Art Nouveau Sterling Silver Trinket Dish from the Edwardian era. The dish has a typically Nouveau organic shape and is decorated on the base with embossed flowers. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind and it would look fabulous on any dressing table, bedside cabinet or desk today.

The trinket dish was made in London by C.H. Dumenil Ltd and dates to 1908. Charles Henry Dumenil established his central London business in 1879, becoming C.H. Dumenil Ltd in 1898. The firm specialised in high quality dressing sets and individual vanity items for both ladies and gentlemen as well as producing a variety of smoking accessories. The company was acquired by Padgett & Braham in 1938.

Condition is extremely good, with no dings or dents and just the superficial surface wear that has to be expected after over 115 years of good service. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The trinket dish measures 13.4cm / 5.3ins by 9cm / 3.5ins and weighs in at a respectable 53.2g /1.87oz of solid Sterling Silver.

The hallmarks, in one corner of the upper side of the base, are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the leopard's head assay mark for London, the date letter n for 1908 and the C D makers' mark for C.H. Dumenil Ltd. There is also a registered design number of 376158, which dates the original design to 1901.
