This is an early new and Old Testament Bible published in Oxford England in 1712, bound with The Book of Psalms published in London in 1703, and with the Book of Common Prayer.

The book was rebound in 1985 in its current reverse calf leather binding, book is slightly over 10 inches tall.

Loosely inserted is a few letters of correspondence between the bookbinder and the owner, the leather binding cost £60.00 in 1985

Also included is the original front board of the bible which was kept as it has family information from an early owner, there are also inscriptions on the reverse of the New Testament title page

Books are not illustrated

CONDITION

The binding has some darkened marks as seen in the photos but otherwise is in good solid condition, internally the Book of Common Prayer is lacking its title page and opens onto the first page of text as pictured.

The pages are close cropped touching some letters of text as seen

There is general browning to pages, along with occasional heavy noticeable foxing to some pages

Staining to lower edges of The Book of Common Prayer

One page to the Book of Common Prayer has a repaired tear on the “Proper Lessons” page (see picture)

In the Old Testament there is a tear with some edge loss to one page, and a larger area of loss to a further page (see pictures)

The book of Psalms located at the rear appears to be lacking possibly the last two leaves as it ends on Psalm 146 verse 9, and it should contain 150 psalms.

Some staining to lower edges of the last few pages of the Psalms else in good acceptable condition.

Book is large and heavy, over three kilos packed
