A substantial, heavily cast vintage Japanese bronze statue of a Shishi (Guardian Lion-Dog / Komainu) in the traditional Tama-tori (玉取り) posture, with one paw resting on a large sacred orb.

Key Material & Design Features:

• Heavy Solid Cast: Weighing an impressive 4230 g (9.3 lbs) despite its height of 18.8 cm, this statue features an exceptionally thick-walled, fully enclosed casting that provides a remarkably solid feel.

• Mottled Verdigris Patina: The surface displays a beautiful contrast between the deep reddish-copper undertones and a layered green verdigris oxidation.

• Precision Workmanship: Features crisp details in the stylized curls of the mane and a rising flame-like tail. The bottoms of the four paws and the orb are precisely ground flat for perfect stability.

Condition

The statue is in excellent vintage condition with its structural integrity fully intact. There are no cracks, breaks, or modern alterations. The bottom of the paws and the orb are flat, level, and sit completely stable. The mottled verdigris patina is well-preserved and evenly distributed.
