"Wire Sewed" refers to the unique manufacturing process where the wooden slats are literally stitched together with wire, which is what allows it to fold flat. "Puffer-Hubbard Mfg. Co.": This was a prominent Minneapolis company founded in the late 1800s. They were famous not just for these crates, but also for making delivery wagons and early "icebox" refrigerators. "Patents Pending": Because this was a revolutionary design at the time, the company was constantly updating its patents to protect the folding mechanism from competitors.
