Antique Victorian Treen Wooden Travel Case Glass Scent Medicine Bottle Stopper.
Antique Victorian Treen Traveling Bottle with Ground Glass Stopper. An elegant and highly collectable late Victorian traveling bottle housed in its original turned hardwood protective case. These cases were designed for wealthy travellers, apothecaries, or ladies to protect fragile liquid contents (such as perfume, cologne, or essential medicines) from crushing while in transit. Features and Highlights: The Bottle: Clear cut-glass cylinder body decorated with an attractive geometric faceted thumbprint pattern down the sides. The Stopper: Complete with its original, authentic ground-glass stopper. The frosted texture provides an airtight seal. I haven’t removed it as it’s tight in the bottle and for the purposes of posting I thought it as well to keep it that way. I’m sure some warm water would make it easier to remove if you want to. The Treen Case: Exquisitely turned wooden protective cylinder with a slip-on cap. The timber features a deep, polished mahogany or rosewood finish with a beautiful natural grain structure. Condition: Excellent antique condition. The wooden case slips together cleanly and tightly. The glass bottle is free from major chips or cracks. A wonderful, untouched piece of social history.
Dimensions:Case measures approximately 12.5cm high and the bottle is 10.5cm with stopper. Please see photo with the ruler for exact scale layout.
