Artists and Engravers: Engraved by Boetius a Bolswert after. Boetius a Bolswert (1585-1633) was a Frisian Dutch copper engraver of great renown. He was an important figure in the movement that tried to reproduce the works of Rubens.

Subject: Title: 'A peste, fame, et bello, libera nos Maria Pacis.' This original devotional print shows: the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Peace in Wavre in Walloon Brabant. A bird's eye view is seen on ground level. Above that two putti are ascending towards the face of Maria (top centre) with a relic-box. An angel chior (consisting of putti) surrounds Maria.
Condition: Good given age. Margins and edges soiled. Margins cropped. A crease in the bottom of the plate (affecting the caption below the image). General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
Size (in cm): The overall size is ca. 15.2 x 23.5 cm. The image size is ca. 13.5 x 22.5 cm. Size (in inch): The overall size is ca. 6 x 9.3 inch. The image size is ca. 5.3 x 8.9 inch.
