From aion fx webpage…
“The Anomaly Vintage Distortion is an adaptation of the Crowther Hot Cake, an overdrive pedal from New Zealand that dates back to 1976. While the Hot Cake has seen many revisions throughout its history, the Anomaly is based on the 2008 revision that includes internal switches for “Bluesberry” and “XLF” (extra low frequency) modes. This version was traced by Aion FX in 2020.
The Hot Cake is notable for its lack of clipping diodes, instead overdriving the TL071 chip directly. Because of this, at some settings (most noticeable at medium gain) there can be a slight “fizz” as the note decays. The Bluesberry mode helps reduce this somewhat, but it’s part of the character of the pedal.
An updated version of the Hot Cake was released in late 2020 and moves the switches to the outside of the enclosure, although according to the manufacturer’s description the “Cream” mode is not the same as the earlier “Bluesberry” mode.
The Anomaly is an identical reproduction of Hot Cake in effect mode, although the bypass mode is somewhat altered. The original Hot Cake uses a relay to disable the gain of the op-amp and deactivate other frequency-shaping filters, transforming it into a unity-gain op-amp buffer. While creative, this approach is overly complicated. The Anomaly converts it to a standard true-bypass configuration.”
GOONAFESTO!
GOON KILLER PEDALS focus is to find the tone you are looking for or a new sound you may love for a great price. Your pedal will be hand made and drilled…So there may be tiny scratches and human imperfections like for led not perfectly centered.it happens sometimes not all the time…I like to keep the costs down for the consumer by not having the enclosures pre drilled or screen printed with hip catchy designs. I will help you find world class tones at a punk rock price. First off I’m not a businessman-business or a greasy salesman… Think of me as just some guy who wants to help you find your sound! What’s cool about these DIY hand assembled pedals made for you is that I use quality components and test different values and component’s. And with the help of the DIY community the possibilities are endless to make your sound unique.
HOW TO BUY:
I price the pedals about around the price I’m asking for them… I do not use a buy it now option. I would have to list the pedal over 30 percent more than what Im asking for some reason … I guess it’s a eBay rule. So if you would like to buy the pedal asap just send an offer. If you’re having any issues with the offer or any questions just message me. Or you want a pedal or custom modification just message me.
HOW I GOT INTO THIS:
I got in to building pedals after looking for a suhr riot pedal. I couldn’t afford the original pedal so I bought a couple of clones…one clone was the Joyo us dream… that sounded horrible… after buying two pedals that I just knew didn’t sound right.. I decided to build my own shur riot ..This first pedal I assembled with quality components and real glass germanium diodes “THE SOUND I WAS LOOKING FOR WAS THERE!!! “ … after that the rest is history…
JUST NOTE:
ALL my pedals are true bypass unless stated otherwise. Germanium transistors and diodes I use are top of the line quality. All my pedals the craftsmanship are covered by my lifetime warranty… if I’m still around breathing just send me the pedal and I will fix it for you. Things I noticed of the years of making pedals Not all pedals sound the same… the same exact pedal through different amps guitars and speakers will sound different.
some things overlooked by tone is the guitars pickups, internal capacitors and pots in the guitar … adjust THE VOLUME KNOB ON GUITAR…and also having a good EQ/BOOST & COMPRESSOR a pedal can go a long way! With those... Also what type of amplifier has a big to do. Also how some vintage pedals prefer to be alone with just a battery. Or some fuzz pedals love single coils over humbuckers. Or sometimes the other way around… Isolated power supplies are the best if one can afford them..but I use the HIREE it’s a cheap pedal supply that is practically indestructible and it’s never let me down.
