This is an antique Japanese saw.

It was used from the Edo period through the Meiji period to cut large trees lengthwise.

Since it is a relatively modern piece, the blade shows almost no wear and can be used for many years to come.

Because it is a large saw, it is called an “Ōga” in Japanese.

It is in excellent condition and has outstanding balance.

Overall, it is in very good condition. There are no chips on the blade.

The teeth are also in good condition, and it is characterized by a wide back.

Saws with a wide back are rare.

It bears the “Koga” stamp, so it is presumed to have been made in what is now Shiga Prefecture.

Hand-carved signatures such as “Masamune” can also be seen.

It also bears an inscription indicating it was made from “Yasugi steel,” a type of Japanese steel, as well as the blacksmith’s name.

Items with clearly preserved inscriptions are highly valued.

This is an extremely rare piece that is rarely seen.

Before use, please polish the blade with sandpaper or sharpen it with a file.
