Description

Beautiful Antique Class B Brass Apothecary / Sovereign Scales in Mahogany Drawer Box

An exquisite example of a late 19th or early 20th-century precision balance scale. This original antique scale features high-quality brass construction mounted on a classic solid mahogany wooden base, complete with a built-in drawer traditionally used for storing weights.

Key Features & Markings:

• Engraved Beam: Stamped clearly with "Class B." on one side and "To weigh 2oz" on the other.

• Mechanism: Features a central brass column, suspension loop pointer, and a cast-iron lever/cam lift mechanism at the base to lock and release the beam.

• Design: Dual suspended circular brass pans. The mahogany base features a brass maker's/retailer's plaque (partially worn/aged, adding to its authentic character).

• Storage: Integrated single drawer with a turned wooden knob.

Condition Report:

Offered in lovely antique condition showing an authentic, unpolished patina to the brasswork. The mahogany case has a rich color and a wonderful grain, showing minor historic scuffs and age-related wear as expected for an item of this vintage (please study the photos carefully). The drawer slides smoothly. No weights are included.

Perfect as a functional display piece for a study, library, or apothecary collection, or as a unique rustic decor item.
