About the Artist: Tatsuzo Shimaoka (1919–2007) was a prominent Japanese ceramic artist designated as a "Living National Treasure" (Important Invisible Cultural Property) in 1996. A disciple of the legendary Shoji Hamada, Shimaoka perfected the unique "Jomon Zogan" (rope-pattern inlay) technique, inspired by his father’s craft as a kumihimo (braided cord) maker.

About the Items: This is a beautiful pair of "Meto-Yunomi" (husband and wife tea cups) featuring the master's signature inlay and vibrant "Aka-e" (red enamel) motifs.

• Unique Designs: While they share the same red enamel pattern, each cup features a different inlay texture. The larger cup has a "Stripe" (Shima) pattern, while the smaller cup features a "Woven" (Ami) pattern.

• Contrast: The rustic, earthy texture of the Jomon inlay creates a stunning contrast with the bright red, green, and yellow enamel decorations.

• Condition: Brand New, Never Used. Includes the original Paulownia wood box (signed) and the descriptive pamphlet.
