It creates smooth, mirror-like finished edges on steel without damaging the base metal, producing the transparent, beautiful finish characteristic of asagi stones—ideal for final honing of razors, knives, planes, and chisels. The stone has been surface-flattened and exhibits the superior, smooth grinding quality inherent to natural whetstones.
