Beautiful antique Japanese hanging scroll featuring an elegant courtly scene with figures beside an ornate carriage beneath stylized pine trees.

This piece came directly from Japan and was brought back to the United States during the 1940s by a U.S. Colonel stationed there during the postwar occupation era. The exact age of the scroll itself is unknown and may predate its acquisition in Japan.

The artwork features exceptionally beautiful muted tones with striking blue, green, black, and gold accents. The composition has a refined, peaceful atmosphere and displays wonderfully as wall art.

The silk and mounting fabrics have a rich texture and lovely aging throughout consistent with an authentic older piece. The decorative patterned border and traditional hanging ties remain intact.
