Part Details & Identification Numbers:

• Casting Number: 186 051 20 01 (Visible cast: 186 051 20 0)

• Factory Casting Date: 19.12.55 (December 19, 1955)

• End Stampings: 21 - 20

Application Fitment:

This M186-derived casting was utilized across Mercedes-Benz's flagship 3.0-liter straight-six platforms of the 1950s, including:

• Mercedes-Benz 300 (W186 "Adenauer") Sedan and Cabriolet

• Mercedes-Benz 300 S / 300 Sc (W188) Coupe and Roadster

• Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing (W198) Early production variants initially shared this mild-profile casting sequence prior to the standardization of the later sports-cam profiles.

Condition Report:

This camshaft is in very good, clean vintage condition. The lobes and bearing journals remain smooth, bright, and free of any deep scoring, heavy wear grooves, or pitting. There is minor, typical spotty surface oxidation/staining on the unmachined rough cast sections and inside the drive keyway from long-term storage, which will easily clean up. The woodruff keyway and end threads are clean and intact.

As with any vintage internal engine component, it is recommended to have your machinist clean, micrometer, and check for straightness prior to final installation.
