BIC SPECIAL 3 WAY ADJUSTMENT TOOL

This was a tool supplied with the BIC 916, 80Z

&  latter some other BIC models.

TONE ARM SPANNER WRENCH

1) BIC had a problem with the plug in tone arm models like the 916MP & 80Z. If the tone arm locking coupler was not tightened fully the unit would hum. The locking coupler was changed to have grooves so a spanner  wrench could be used--see photo. This tool will not work on earlier models that didn't have grooves.

BRAKE PIN WRENCH

2) The tone arm on any unit that has anti skate will want to drift as it lowers. BIC turntables had a "brake pin" that would stop the arm from moving/drifting as it  lowered in cueing or  auto drop.

PROBLEM--if the brake let loose to soon the arm would drift--if released to late the arm would stick--not track when touching the record. The stylus would get "plucked" by the groove.

The top of pin on early models were fully round  & the tool will not work. On many latter models the top of the lift pin had flats so a wrench could be used to adjust the lift pin--see photo.

This pin was used on MANY models including latter 940's, 960's & 980's BUT NOT EARLY MODELS WITH NO FLATS.

Clockwise turn will make the brake release latter.

HEIGHT ADJUST SCREWDRIVER

There is an adjustment screw for tone arm height. The end of the tool can be used for this adjustment. Of course so can any other screwdriver--it might even be better.
