Description - Splendid Victorian turn of the 20th century solid silver jewellery box of rectangular form with a slightly domed hinged lid and a thumb piece,
lid is embellished with embossed floral scrolls Baroque manner with maidens being serenaded, plus a building and trees in the background, the sides have further embossed decoration,
original green silk and velvet fitted interior lining and a black leather bound underside.
Fully hallmarked with anchor for Birmingham assay, lion passant indicating 925 grade solid silver, date letter "a" for the year 1900 and the maker's mark "HM" which is Henry Matthews.
Condition - In fair to good condition, there are two splits to the rear ends of the hinge and some wear to the interior lining (please inspect end photographs,
decoration is in very good condition with some rubbing to the higher relief only
no nasty or dings hinge, strong hinge closing the lid securely.
