Published in the late 1960s to promote national pride, order, and cultural richness to the outside world, contrasting with the political repression and isolation the country faced internationally under the presidency of François "Papa Doc" Duvalier (1957–1971). Today, it offers a visual record of Haitian life and architecture in the late 1960s.
