Franklin Mint “Pride of the South” by Jim PonterLimited Edition #1518/9500
Beautiful and substantial Franklin Mint equestrian sculpture depicting Confederate General Robert E. Lee mounted on horseback with battle flag. Sculpted by noted artist Jim Ponter with exceptional three-dimensional detail throughout.
This piece came from a single-owner private collection belonging to a longtime military and history collector. It has been carefully displayed and preserved and remains in excellent vintage condition.
The craftsmanship on this sculpture is remarkable:• Detailed facial sculpting and uniform• Raised “CS” saddle detail• Sculpted reins, stirrups, sword, and tack• Flowing battle flag with raised stars• Dramatic upright horse tail and expressive stance• Textured terrain base with wood display platform• Franklin Mint medallion and artist signature• Limited edition numbered casting: 1518/9500
The sculpture is extremely heavy for its size at approximately 10.5 lbs. The figure remains cold to the touch like cast metal, is nonmagnetic, and has a metallic ring when lightly tapped. Appears to be a heavy cast composite/cold-cast bronze style finish.
Condition:Excellent displayed vintage condition with beautiful patina and strong detail throughout. No noticeable cracks, breaks, or repairs observed. Please review all photographs carefully as they are part of the description.
A striking display piece for collectors of Franklin Mint, Civil War memorabilia, military history, equestrian sculpture, or Americana décor.
This sculpture will be professionally and extremely carefully packaged with substantial protective wrapping and padding to ensure safe delivery, especially given its weight and collectible nature.
