Riehl, Wilhelm Heinrich (1823-1897):
"System of political science and politics. 1891". Lecture notes.

Munich 18861888.

Half-linen binding of the period [approx. 29.5 x 21.5 cm] . approx. 300 sheets (and pages), written on one side + approx. 30 blank sheets -- Handwritten manuscript on pre-printed lined pages. Comprehensive, neatly kept lecture notes of the lecture by Wilhelm Heinrich Riehl, the founder of scientific folklore and an important cultural historian. The title page shows the transcript as the work of a senior government councilor Geiger. A later note at the top right dates a revision or review to January 28, 1936 by a Dr. Jacob (?). -- Riehl, who was a full professor in Munich from 1859, represented an organic view of the state. This manuscript documents his teaching on the combination of psychology, folklore and political science. Particularly interesting are the passages about national consciousness as a psychological puzzle and the definition of statesmanship, which Riehl sees not only as a theoretical construct, but as a practical task for realizing the goals of the state. -- well preserved.
