FALL LAKE SCENE, a rare LARGE painting by this Artist - painted on CANVAS, by Lawrence NICKLE, OSA ( 1931-2014).
Born in Toronto in 1931, he is a Landscape painter. He studied at the Ontario College of Art, Toronto 1954. He has been painting for the last 61 years. He is known for His en plein air painting, he just takes his paint box and a few small birch panels into the wilderness, where he then paints. He mostly work around Algonquin Park to Georgian Bay and even as far away as Lake Superior, as in this example of His landscape-driven Art.
His excursions into the Northern Ontario wilderness continue the Canadian tradition of His predecessors in the Group of Seven. I myself compare Him to Tom Thomson (just look at this one !!!! ), since he does the same subject matter, and also paints on small panels en plein air.
Since Tom Thomson is out of 99.7 % of the Canadian populations price range, here is your chance to own a similar pcs of work from, at the moment, a more affordable Canadian Artist.
He has been quoted as saying " I cover more wood, and manipulate the paint more than the Group of Seven did". Also " My work follows more from earlier models, such as Constable and the early impressionists, with whom I share a concern for light".
