Antique handmade cotton lace panel, with an openwork geometric design and a soft natural tone from age.
The exact origin is unknown, but the construction and style are very similar to Irish crochet lace, with repeated motifs connected by hand. The structure has a slightly raised texture, typical of this type of work.
This piece was likely part of a larger textile, as one edge shows signs of having been previously attached to fabric. It can now be reused as a decorative panel, edging, or for textile and sewing projects.
Strong and stable, with some visible age marks that add to its character without affecting usability.
Specifications:
- Length: approx. 2 meters
- Width: approx. 14 cm
- Material: cotton
- Condition: very good antique condition, with some age marks and signs of previous use

Please note that all our laces and linens are sold as found, unwashed and unused, they have been stored for many years so if any cleaning or ironing is needed, it will be left to the buyer. Before use, gently hand wash or soak in soft soap, rinsed and towel dried (no wringing!!) and let to air dry. The ancient folk wisdom says that it is better to spread the fabrics on a meadow and let the dew and the moon naturally whiten the fabric.
The color shades go from white to ecru and cream, and because the handmade lace was made by different women and threads, on some occasions the color of each roll from the same type differs slightly. They have been stored for many decades (almost a century), so it is possible that some of them may show dust or a light patina; this is precisely what gives them their unique, endearing charm. I try my best to show and describe any exceptional wear or damage.
